The CNA / Hospice Aide is a paraprofessional trained to provide personal care and other unskilled services. The CNA / Hospice Aide functions under the direction, instruction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. * Assists/provides the patient with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) including personal care, exercise, ambulation, changing and making the patient's bed as directed by the RN. * Assists patients in and out of bed, including the use of mechanical lifting equipment, when applicable. * Encourages the patient's family to participate in patient's care and assists in the maintenance of a safe environment. * Assists the patient and/or family with the administration of oral medications ordinarily self-administered that have been ordered by the physician, if allowable under state specific regulations. * Assists with non-skilled treatments as ordered by the physician and approved and supervised by the Registered Nurse. * Gives emotional support to the patient and encourages independence in the patient as allowed in Patient Care Plan. * Maintains twelve (12) hour educational requirements. * Prepares light meals, launders and performs other household services as essential to the patient's health care and necessary to maintain health. * Measures and records fluid intake and output as directed. Takes and records blood pressure, pulse and respirations. * Reports/records changes in the patient's mental status, physical status, or appearance to the Registered Nurse immediately. * Participates in weekend rotation for scheduled visits. * Willing and able to accurately utilize any automated device required to document in the electronic medical record. * Must demonstrate maturity necessary for establishing and maintaining a good working relationship with the patient, family and personnel. * Must demonstrate a sympathetic and compassionate attitude and be able to function with minimal supervision. * Must show proof of successful completion of a state approved training program or provide evidence of successful completion of a training program which meets the required hours and subject content as specified by Conditions of Participation and licensure or other regulatory requirements within the state of intended practice. *Date:* xxxx-02-11 *Country:* US *State:* VA *City:* Roanoke *Postal Code:* xxxx9 *Job Type:* Full-Time
